This is a program to aid patients in getting the most out of their cognitive therapy. Follow the Program Synopsis link at the bottom of the page to go through the basic features of the program. One technique involves clients keeping a daily record of automatic thoughts. Keep a record of your automatic thoughts for a few days. Did you find this task easy or difficult? What are some ways in which cognitive therapy is different from behavioural therapy?

I'll address the easiest question first. I keep a journal/diary. I don't use it everyday because I'm so busy. To try and write in it everyday I found to be very difficult, especially when going to school. I think it is something that if I put my mind to it I'd be able to write down random thoughts every day but as soon as I got distracted it would be very difficult. Of course if I was imn therapy I would have more reasons to do, I suppose.

I used to keep a diary, but I stopped since it took alot out of my day. In stead I usually email my friend in Duke about how things are going in my life, and he replies back..kinda like an interactive diary. I don't think it would be that difficult to write down your automatic thoughts, but I guess it would all depend on whether or not you were willing to do them, since they might find it a little tedious. And like Angela stated, if I were in therapy, that would be enough reason to start a journal.
