Can the results be used to answer the research questions?

intro.psych (Psyco 105) Discussion: Group 3 Discussion Group: Reading the Research - Social Development: Can the results be used to answer the research questions?
By Jene on Monday, October 12, 1998 - 03:20 pm:

As I understand it, the research question is that adolescent males will prefer to date older adolescent females. The results support this hypothesis. However, it is interesting that in reality, adolescent males date adolescent females that are on average younger than they are. This latter result clouds the validity of the research question, it seems to me.

The results can be answered by the research. I'd have to disagree with Jene's point of validity, the title states "preference" for dating. It doesn'tchange the validity of the results. It does go against the mating rules, of looking for a mate the will want to reproduce with you. Though we have to acknowledge that relationships are a little more cpmplicated than that. SOrry for rambling.

The validity is not affected by the actual dating pattern because if you look at the females response they prefer older males. Well, if males prefer older females and females prefer older males then somethings got to give so we can get together SO although males PREFER older females we are willing to umm... settle for younger females because we can take advantage ummm... I mean because younger females prefer older males :)

PS Rambling is good!!
