Are the measures appropriate for addressing the research question?

intro.psych (Psyco 105) Discussion: Group 2 Discussion Group: Reading the Research - Social Development: Are the measures appropriate for addressing the research question?
By Angela on Tuesday, October 13, 1998 - 10:53 pm:

Yes and No. Like I said before in the previous question there are problems with the questionaire administration. Can we trust all teenagers to respond honestly to an adult's question? Can we assume that all teens will take an experiment like this seriously. I do thing the types of questions are very appropriate. They were straight forward and clear. The answers given would be simple, ages, and easy to chart, to show any cause and effect relationships that a correlational study requires.

I'm not quite sure as to how the question differs from the previous one, however, like Angela, I believe that there is no clear answer. Again, we are dealing with Kids, who may or may not have any reason to lie about there dating preferances, depending on who (a female vs. a male presenter), or in what context its being asked (casual question vs. questionnaire). With regards to the questionnaire, my opinions were already stated in the previous question: in a nutshell, I think that you need to make the questionnaire as unbiased as possible, since its a very personal question, especially to younger people, who aern't too comfortable with the topic
