Agoraphobia Screening Test

Try this Agoraphobia test from Internet Mental Health.
If you didn't get very far in the questionnaire, try taking it again, responding as you think a person with panic disorder might respond (this will allow you to view all the questions). These items follow the DSM-IV criteria for diagnosis of panic disorder. What do you think about the DSM category "panic disorder"? Is this a useful classification? See page 620 of Gray for more information on panic disorder.

I didn't get very far on the test the firt time(1 question). I tried to answer like an agraphobic would, and didn't get it right the first time. But when I finnally got diagnosed as an agraphobic the site gives you a fair bit of information. I just did it as a self assessment, I don't know whethter it makes a difference-I'll check later.
Bye for now!

Just like angela, I too only got to the first question before I was told that I probably have a "persistant, unreasonable fear for different objects or situations." But the 2nd time, I took the advice, and tried to act like a person with agoraphobia, and was actually able to finish the test...the diagnosis however is not very helpful, since it pretty much just regurjitates the answers to the qustions that the test posed. It really doesn't give any consructive insight as to how "bad" (for lack of a better word) the disease is for that person (i.e me). Except for the little part at the bottom where it states whether or not the condition is due to medical or physical cuase...but that is pretty obvious in the question that it asked in the test:"did your doctor say that these fears were normal reactions to a medical disorder, alcohol or drug use problem you had?"
Anyways..I didn't find this sight overly helful...although I am not a therapist, and therefore am not justified to criticize the diagnosis (but from a students point of view, it sounded ridiculously obvious...almost insulting ;)

I don't think that its neccacary to tell someone how bad their problem is. If they are seeking help then they know its bad. I think what realy needs to be on this page is an incouragement for someone to go see a therapist if they haven't done so already. Unless I missed it, I don't think it realy says that.

I've tried this test again, in hopes that perhaps I may have missed the point to the test, but to my dismay, I haven't. Unfortunately (in my opinion) this test fails to give the recipient any constructive information in which he/she can use. Instead, it just states the obvious, from the questions that it asked. Furthermore, the fact that the test cuts short when you answer differently to that of a supposed person with agoraphobia doesn't go to well with me either, since all it mentions is that the "Persistent, unreasonable fear of many different objects or situations." I realize that it is strictly a site that deals with agoraphobia, but it would have been helful if the site could atleast provise some links or information to other phobias.

The site does, well a bit give you some information, but not as much as it appeared at first. I think, however, that a person can take this information and expand on it. Just the fact that they've taken the test puts them on a path for treatment.

I think the histrionic disorder test gives a better discription of tretment than this one does.
