Theodore Tugboat is a popular television series for young children. There are also Theodore Tugboat books, tapes, collectables and more. Visit this site to read an interactive Theodore Tugboat story. As you read each page, you make a choice as to how to continue the story. What choices did you make while reading the story? Why? Read the story with a child. Ask the child about his or her choices as you read. How do the child's choices differ from yours?

This one is hard because I dont know any children. Any way, I tried to be like a child for my decisions. I picked the special friend one and decided to anoy the new boat. Then I hid for a while. Then I went and got the choice of jobs and knowing that I could annoy the new ship again thats what I did. I'm not sure why I thought that these were what children would pick, but I seem to remember hiding from chores when I was little. If I was really trying to be a child I'd have to go back and do everything completly different. Hmmm a bed story.

I wish they had this type of web pages when I was a kid, since I always rented these kinds of books from the library ("make your own story" books). I chose the story about the ice covered boat. chose to help Hank welcome ships, because I thought that would be more fun than just taking a new bell to the buoy. And when theodore wonders whether he should find out what the ice covered ship is, or go home, I chose to find out. As a kid, I was always curious, and as a result, would always choose the most intersting one. As well, with the "make our own story" books, there were times when there were dead ends, or the ending would turn out badly for the main character. With those books, I would always "cheat" and read both choices, seeing which one would lead me to the winning ending so to speak. I'll take this story agai nwhen my little cousin wakes up, he might choose different ones than me, since he's shy and not overly curious.

Daki, did you ever read Encycopedia Brown? His Father was a police man but Encycopedia solved lots of his cases, and a few of his own. They would put the kid's reasoning in the back of the book. I always read the reasoning and then the story to see how he deduced everything.
