Agoraphobia Screening Test

intro.psych (Psyco 105) Discussion: Group 1 Discussion Group: Abnormal Psychology: Sites to Visit: Agoraphobia Screening Test

Try this Agoraphobia test from Internet Mental Health.
If you didn't get very far in the questionnaire, try taking it again, responding as you think a person with panic disorder might respond (this will allow you to view all the questions). These items follow the DSM-IV criteria for diagnosis of panic disorder. What do you think about the DSM category "panic disorder"? Is this a useful classification? See page 620 of Gray for more information on panic disorder.

Panic disorder seems a bit different than the others we are studying at least according to the text. It seems different in the way that it is not triggered or caused by a situation but to a learned idea that to loose control of yourself in public would be "catestrophic". I'm not sure what is ment by the question, "is it a useful classification?" Any ideas anyone? As long as you answer yes to all of the questions that don't relate to environmental influence or drugs, you are classified with the disorder the test specifies.
