Helpful Advice Wanted!
Please share any advice you have. We can all discuss it. Maybe you have a suggestion that can be implemented immediately. Maybe you have advice for next term.

AHHH!!! If you've been following my messages, you'll notice that i've been alittle more than just a teeny weeny bit frustrated with the way this first assignment has gone. I would strongly suggest that next time...you should give us the groups earlier (and preferably in class) so that we can come face to face with our group members and have a talk and exchange phone as well as email adresses. I mean, its taken me alsmost a week just to figure out how to send a message (I wrote 5 different messages and they have failed to send. As well, I think that if the First asssignment wasn't for marks, then people like me wouldn't be so stressed out, mostly because I have yet to "talk" to either of my group members"...and because I haven't been able to send any, they're considering just doing a summary by themselves. Its just food for thought, that's all.

You have good ideas. We had a bit of a slow start to the term with recruiting and all so the discussion groups which were supposed to be set up by last lecture (I had planned time for you guys to see each other face-to-cface) couldn't be done until the next day. I'll allow a little time today for you to meet e/o. You might want to share e-mail addresses so you can contact e/o outside of the discussion group as well.

In terms of difficulty posting, lemme know the next time you have any troubles. Discus is one of the easiest conferencing systems around, buit even it takes a while to get used to.

Remember that you get to drop the lowest mark in the discussions. I'll also consider your idea to drop this one for credit (and then have 9 to include in the finals) but I think you all did a fine job the first time out anyway - even if it was under stress.

I strongly suggest a system where we can post summaries by e-mail nad then maybe e-mail a copy to everyone in the group. I did my entire summary and decoided to decrease the font and it erased it entirely. This is only one of the problems I've had with this program. It seems to be a real hassle to be able to swich back and forth between two open psychology programs. I admit I'm not that computer literate but e-mail would make my life a whole lot easier!

Try doing your summary on a word prosseser first. That way you can save it. Or try posting a little then editing in in the preview. The reason we do the summary on the site is so all of the class can go and read what everyone else thinks of the various sites. Its kinda cool reading what everyone thought.

I agree with 5:06 p.m. Anonymous about posting summaries to the discussion. It also makes it easier to collectively edit a summary.

I don't use a wordprocessor tho, I keep previewing what I've done. The preview acta like an autosave on the wordprocessor. Then, if you do lose text, you've only lost what you've done since the last preview.

Discussion software still isn't very refined. I'm working on alternatives, including chats that archive the discussion so they act similtaneously as synchronous (chat) and asynchronous(like what we have here) discussion.

I would suggest that next year maybe having the evaluations about the sites to visit, within the homepage so then you don't have to worry about collecting them and we don't have to worry about handing them in and then also they are there on the computer when you are looking at the site, and they are there in front of you.
