Chapter 3:
Ethology and Sociobiology

Lecture 2

This lecture, given on 20 October 1998, explored several issues from the fields of ethology and sociobiology. From the field of ethology, sign stimuli and the differences between fixed action patterns and fixed action chains were discussed. The breadth of the field of sociobiology and the time constraints of a single class necessitated a concentration on two topics: aggression and altruism.
